lowfat (meant to be low on UI-fat... no superfluous UI-elements like buttons, scrollbar, windows, frames etc) is meant to do away the icon-metaphor and to avoid exposing the user to the hierarchical filesystem. Every document, be it a text-file, an image, a video, a drawing, a spreadsheet or else should be displayed as is without the need for a "viewing application". All those in-between abstractions and computer-tools have to go away... Xerox Parc was some 30 years ago
