Sabayon-template replaces the usual sabayon-apply that is the engine for Sabayon at login time with an engine able to evaluate the users environment used in configuration files and replace them with their values. For example $(USER) can be used as user-id for logging in in several services where the user id are equivalent as the user id used at login time for the desktop. This is true for all variables in the users login environment. Sabayon-template also extends the environment variables to cover all so called GECOS-information (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gecos_field) about the user.
