Invallid Token Error when installing Ubuntu Pro on Ubuntu 22.04.3

Asked by Sharlene

I am trying to enable Ubuntu Pro for Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS using the free 5 personal token. In the beginning, it shows valid token after i entered my code to attach the machine. When i clicked next, it loaded awhile before displaying invalid token. Tried the alternative method which is to add token manually. Tried a few times but both does not work. On my Ubuntu One account, it shows that I have 3 active machine when non of my machine has successfully installed Ubuntu Pro, due to not supported kernel for livepatching. When i type "lsb_release -a", it does not show that it is in Ubuntu Pro version
Advice needed.

"lsb_release -a" does not show the Ubuntu pro status, but you have to use
pro status

see also https://canonical-ubuntu-pro-client.readthedocs-hosted.com/en/latest/howtoguides/get_token_and_attach.html

When i run "sudo pro attach <token>"
it shows "This machine is already attached to '<email>@gmail.com'

Does it mean that Ubuntu pro is successfully installed?

I checked the services and Livepatch shows warning.

Error msg:
"The current kernel (6.2.0-26-generic, x86_64) is not supported by livepatch.
Supported kernels are listed here: https://ubuntu.com/security/livepatch/docs/kernels
Either switch to a supported kernel or `pro disable livepatch` to dismiss this warning."

Are you able to advice the steps to getting livepatch running properly?

You have to distinguish between the general Ubuntu pro installation and the specific services like livepatch.

Q: it shows "This machine is already attached to '<email>@gmail.com'
Does it mean that Ubuntu pro is successfully installed?

A: Yes!

Q: "The current kernel (6.2.0-26-generic, x86_64) is not supported by livepatch."

A: It's what the error message tells. You have installed a kernel version that is not supported by the livepatch service. See the link in the error message for details.

If this is a local system (not an azure, aws or gcp server), then the only currently supported kernel is the 5.15 series. You have to install a kernel from the 5.15 family (e.g. "sudo apt install linux-generic") and uninstall the 6.2.* kernel.

Hi I have installed the linux-image-5.15.0-86-generic.
I have also uninstalled linux-image-6.2.0-26-generic and linux-image-6.2.0-34-generic.
When i run the command $ dpkg --list | grep linux-image,
Results:
ii linux-image-5.15.0-86-generic
rc linux-image-6.2.0-26-generic
rc linux-image-6.2.0-34-generic

I have reboot the pc to run using linux-image-5.15.0-86-generic kernel. However I have encountered 2 main problems:
1) Wifi not working
2) Display image is zoomed in with big icons. I have tried changing the display resolution in settings but there is not dropdown option at all, unlike when i was running on linux-image-6.2.0 kernel.

Kindly assist the with the above 2 problem so i can proceed to install Ubuntu Pro with wifi connectivity and also enable livepatching.

In addition,

when I opened Software & Updates > Ubuntu Pro. I have encountered the error msg "Could not enable ESM Infra. Please try again."

But I was able to turn on ESM Apps and Kernel Livepatch.

Please advice the problems mentioned, greatly appreciate your help and prompt responses Manfred.
Thank you.
