Relation between livepatch and needrestart command. Is running needrestart command command required if livepatch is used

Asked by thesudoer

If we are using livepatch service is the needrestart command required to be executed and the services mentioned in needrestart command be restarted .

Is needrestart only applicable for traditional method of patching/upgrading (without livepatch) or is it required to be executed even after a livepatch execution

@bernard

So if i am using livepatch after livepatch is completed , i do not need to restart the service (like mysql, postgre) unless the LivePatch Security 1 notice is issued

The userspace process like mysql and mariadb will be using new kernel after livepatch and not the older kernel

Correct me if i my understanding is wrong

And needrestart command need not be executed after livepatch ?

Does livepatch require restart of mysql and mariadb after livepatch is completed so that mariadb and mysql etc. Use new kernel version

Can you help with this problem?
