I've got a very similar problem with my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi1526.
The soundcard is Intel-hda with Realtek ALC880.
On Edgy I have the problem that speakers and headphonejack were switched (see BUG 71737). Now after upgrading to feisty there was no sound at all.
After adding mode=3stack to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base sound works, but only with the headphone jack - the speakers are dead!
I want to try out different modes today (5stack, w810 etc.). But if you got any other idea what could be wrong please let me know!
