The Ubuntu-Wine PPA (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa) now includes the latest PulseAudio compatibility patches. Rejoice! You should switch to that one to get the latest Wine updates.
This page will be kept around for archeological purposes.

This package is built from the vanilla upstream Wine development releases, with the new Winepulse patches (for better PulseAudio compatibility). It uses multi-arch dependencies, so installing on amd64 does not require ia32-libs (sudo apt-get install wine:i386).
