powermate

Small Linux userspace driver for the Griffin PowerMate. Requires PulseAudio.

To install:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stefansundin/powermate
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install powermate

If you have the device plugged in already, unplug it and then plug it back in! Then run `powermate` in a terminal. An autostart entry has been added so it should automatically run on your next login.

Hold down the knob for one second to activate "movie mode". Operation is the same except the LED stays off.

See /etc/powermate.toml for configuration.

To remove:
sudo apt-get remove powermate
sudo apt-add-repository --remove ppa:stefansundin/powermate
sudo apt-get update

### Raspberry Pi

This program works great on the Ubuntu release for Raspberry Pi.

On Raspberry Pi OS (also called Raspbian) you first have to get PulseAudio working (it is not the default). Once that is set up, run:
