Dynamo is the name of the modular web back-end currently in use by the various Helioviewer Project browse clients. Originally written as a part of Helioviewer.org, Dynamo has since expanded in size and scope and now functions as the back-end and facilitator for many of the different Helioviewer Project browse clients. The underlying architecture for Dynamo has undergone several revisions. Most recently, emphasis has been placed on modularity and extensibility. The benefit of this design is that it is possible to have custom installations of Dynamo, where only certain functionality is supported. Furthermore, the modular design makes it very simple to add new functionality.

NOTE: Currently the Dynamo code is included with the Helioviewer.org code trunk, in the "api" folder.
