Panda is an open source Smalltalk engine

Panda is written in C, and has no dependencies other than libc. All Smalltalk-80 syntax and behavior is supported.

Performance is comparable to other interpreted Smalltalk engines as well as Python, yet is an order of magnitude faster than Ruby.

There are no tarball releases yet. A Bazaar branch is available here:
