Perl module which (1) implements the Sendmail 'milter' interface, (2) eliminates the requirement for Sendmail's libmilter and (3) may add some extra functionality.

Using this Perl module makes it possible to write Sendmail milters in pure Perl.

The object of the exercise is to enable you to process mail in whatever way you desire using all the power of Perl, of the underlying operating system, and of all the resources available to it -- including such things as content scanners, DNS-based and other block-lists, firewalls and filters, Web and database servers, other Perl modules (e.g. DKIM/DMARC processing), storage systems, filesystems, utilities...

Example milters are included in the distribution which demonstrate the simplicity of this approach.

Examples are in development which demonstrate its power and flexibility. The current maintainer has been using these on low-volume servers for several years to filter mail; to semi-automatically report abuse; and hopefully to slow the spammers down and cost them money.

Once upon a time the author found that it took an unjustifiable amount of effort to report a single abusive message.

Now it takes very little time to report over a hundred, daily, to as many organizations as required in whatever ways they stipulate.

--------------------------------------------------

The original Sendmail::PMilter had serious issues and was abandoned by its author many years ago.

The development version fixes all the issues which are (were?) listed on rt.cpan.org and adds amongst other things full support for Sendmail's protocol negotiation.

Users are invited to download the development version from metacpan.org and provide feedback by email to the maintainer.
