The purpose for this project is to assess the feasibility of a magnetized iron detector in the context of a very low energy neutrino factory for the purpose of testing claims of sterile neutrinos. This is an offshoot of the work done for the magnetized iron detector simulations done in the context of a neutrino factory.
The goal of this project is to verify that it is possible to reject backgrounds associated with charge mis-identification at the part in 100000 level. This can be done through clever manipulation of detector and reconstruction variables, or improvements in reconstruction. Changes to the existing MIND code made for the explicit purpose of the VLENF code will be stored here, as well as scripts and parameter files used to produce the simulation.
