A framework for 2G/3G devices powered by Python and DBus
Wader is a framework that manages 3G devices and mobile phones offering a DBus interface so that other applications of the Linux desktop can use its rich services for interacting with the mobile device. It provides facilities for connecting to the Internet, sending / receiving single & multipart SMS, managing contacts, interactive USSD that can be utilised for checking prepay balance & topping up etc. Supporting over 80 different mobile broadband cards, sticks and embedded modules it can be easily extended using python based plugins to support any new datacards that might appear. Vodafone help to support us and so we get early access to their new devices etc. Wader no longer ships with a GTK UI, but is usually driven using the Vodafone Mobile Broadband (Betavine Connection Manager) client or the Network Manager applet.
