Wireless tools are used to manipulate the Linux Wireless Extensions. The Wireless Extension is an interface allowing you to set Wireless LAN specific parameters and get the specific stats.
The Wireless Tools is a set of tools allowing to manipulate the Linux Wireless Extensions. They use a textual interface and are rather crude, but aim to support the full Wireless Extension. They consist of iwconfig, iwspy, iwlist, and iwpriv.
