pykdic aims at providing tools for learning, studying kanji (Japanese characters), and is written in python.

I started this project because I was dissatisfied with the state of Japanese softwares on Linux, including learning tools and dictionaries. Improving them was found difficult because they contain a lot of legacy code. By using python, I hope that other people would find useful, powerful and easy to use tools for creating their own tools related to Kanji.

I myself have two main applications in mind: a Japanese dictionary, and a learning tool using the kanji card paradigm.
