A simple multimedia transcoder for the GNOME Desktop. Arista focuses on being easy to use by making the complex task of encoding for various devices simple. Pick your input, pick your target device, choose a file to save to and go. Features include automatic discovery of DVD media and V4L devices, ripping from DVD, V4L devices, or files, a live quality preview, and included presets for the most popular devices currently in use.
The goals of this project are to be simple, to be easy to use, to support the most popular devices in use today and to provide a nice user experience. Any help to achieve these goals are very welcome, be it helping with the code, writing new presets or artwork for presets, documentation, or anything else. The entire project is written in Python and is nicely documented, the presets are simple JSON files, and the images are all SVG or PNG.
Use the tabs above and dig into the project - fix a bug or provide more information, help plan and implement new features, create or update translations, or help people who have questions.
NOTICE:
Please note all development is now done via Git using GitHub. This is because I feel that Launchpad and Bazaar are just too slow for my daily coding use. I will continue to track existing tickets and answers here but it would be appreciated if you open new tickets on GitHub as well. See here:
